If you're actually serious about learning this language, Carlos is your guy. If you put in the work outside the classroom, Carlos will take you to the next level. I personally started with a foundation of about a month's work of studying then started working with Carlos in late December in person. I swear two hours with Carlos is worth 10 hours in the classroom. I have put in the time and at this point about 3 months in with Carlos I can speak fluidly with most people. Nearly everyone comments that my Spanish is very good given the amount of time I've spent. He's very strict but I think for a serious learner it's the right approach. I had a bunch of different Spanish teachers in different countries when I was trying to learn, but Carlos was without a doubt the best! He kept the classes moving so it never got boring, used some great techniques to get us talking and conversing in Spanish (so because I wanted to communicate something, I remembered it better, instead of simply being obliged to complete the exercise) - and he had plenty of games and other ways of taking me around the city to learn instead of staying in the classroom all day.
